Structure

Inhibits osteoclastic bone resorption. It has a high affinity for hydroxyapatite, resulting in its rapid and preferential accumulation in bone tissue. It is released from bone surfaces during bone resorption, and internalized by osteoclasts, where it mediatesits antiresorptive activity by inhibiting the mevalonate pathway (Lyseng-Williamson, 2008).
